The Maashaven harbor basin, which is part of the Rotterdam docklands, the so-called ‘Pols van Katendrecht’ (‘Katendrecht Wrist’) and, in the center of the photograph, the office tower ‘Maastoren’ on the Kop van Zuid, designed by Dam & Partners in cooperation with Odile Decq Benoit Cornette. The Maastoren is home to, amongst others, Deloitte, Mabanaft and AKD Prinsen van Wijmen.

Former grain warehouse ‘Maassilo’ is located in the Rotterdam neighbourhood of Charlois, between the Brielselaan, Maashaven Zuidzijde, Maashaven Oostzijde and the old Maashaven harbour basin (visible in the front). The silo building, designed in 1910 by architect J.P. Stok and extended in 1931 by architectural office ‘Brinkman & Van der Vlugt’, currently houses the so-called ‘Creative Factory’ and ‘Maassilo Evenementenlocatie’.

On this photo, which I shot from the Maaskade (Katendrecht, Rotterdam), Meneba’s Head office and cereal processing plant located between the Maashaven harbour basin / Maashaven Zuidzijde and the Brielselaan. The plant was designed by architect Michiel Brinkman (Rotterdam, December 16, 1873 – Rotterdam, February 19, 1925) in 1913. After that the complex was extended by Brinkman himself and also by his son’s (Jan Brinkman, Rotterdam, March 22, 1902 – Rotterdam, May 6, 1949) architectural office ‘Brinkman en Van der Vlugt’.
